So I just recently got married on July 17th.

Yay! We got married at the Salt Lake Temple, and had the reception that night.
Our reception was Awesome! We held it in a church gym. I now that sounds terrible it wasn't. No one seemed to mind the basket ball hoops, and renting it was free. Any way, we decorated it with white and blue flower arrangements that my mom made, some balloons, a lighted flower arrangement on every table, some lighted trees that we rented, along with a lighted gazebo that goes over the cake table, and we bought an arch that we decorated with flowers. My bouquet was huge; my mom made it too.
We spent a lot of time altering my dress. We bought it for $100 at David's Bridal. It was really beautiful, but we added to it any way.
We also had a photographer who was also Nate's neighbor, doing all the pictures for the entire wedding occasion for $500. Not too bad, considering he printed out all the pictures that were taken at the temple and put them in a book for every one to see at the reception. Isn't that cool. But I feel I have cheated him a little. He said he is not making any money of all this. But I don't have any extra money to spare. The entire expenditures for all the wedding stuff was more than 3,000 dollars, but of course Nate and I didn't do it on our own. Our parents paid for mostly every thing.
Now the food I wanted to be family recipes. For my side of the family (well my mom's side) we made tamales, and for Nate's side we made chicken salad sandwiches, Mellen family cookies, and Grandma's slush. And we also bought some sheet cakes just because. The Wedding cake was made by Nate's cousins and my mom made some flower arrangements to put on top.
For our program We tried to keep up a line for an hour which didn't happen. People kept leaving it to go do important things, and so we kept up an imperfect line for most of the day; which was Ok.
Then we had a European, folk dance group that Nate is in, dance for us, and after that dance we joined in for the Slovakian wedding dance called 'virtielka'. I had practiced, but not very often, so I was nervous, but Nate said I did good. I didn't do the dance in my wedding dress. The group said that i could, but I believe it would have been impossible.
Then we did a dollar dance where people pin dollars on the bride and groom as they dance with them, and we had a father daughter dance and then just an open dance. Nate had his uncle's band play for the whole reception. They played classic rock and some slower songs. They were kind of loud, but it still fun.
We now have an apartment full of presents that have been taking a lot of work to put away, and a pile of duplicate presents to give to other people as gifts. It's nice to finally not live with parents and my siblings anymore, and to have own place with my husband.
And to finish it all off; we went to the Anniversary Inn for a night the day after the reception. We picked the room with the biggest tub (the Sultans palace room). Big jetted tubs are fun.
So, some time or latter I need to post my photos on My Space. When I remember what it is I'll post my user name here.
