I've also learned so much from the classes I've had, and the experiences that tie with them.
I think though if I were to do anything different, it would have been, to try harder in high school, (especially in the class that were concurrent enrollment credits for college), tried to get a scholarship while in high school, and go into collage as soon as I graduated. But oh well, that didn't happen, and who knows; I probably wouldn't have done as well in my classes, because I wasn't as mature or hard working.
So some of the things I have learned is, if you want to be an artist, and you have a need to be creative, then creating and learning about art is very important, not just because it lets you do something you want to do, but because it is how you learn.
I also learned that you need to learn to understand yourself and others (especially in junior high and high school) You learn about certain things in college, (such as in a human relations class) that would have helped you so much back then. I remember going through a sort of personal identity crisis in junior high. I didn't really know who I was. I suggest reading the color code book to discover your personality and help to overcome your faults. Also Reading The Five Love Languages book can help people understand why they or others don't feel loved, and how to change that. Although the book is geared towards married couples. The author should really write a new version for anybody called the five communications, or something like that.
And I also learned that to be a freelance or commercial artist you don't necessarily need a degree, but taking the classes certainly helps. You have to the best that you can be and never stop improving. And to be a commercial artist, some agencies look for artist that can do anything. Especially lots of different styles, and they have to know how to use Photoshop, Painter, Illustrator, and programs like that. You should check out [link] They are a great example of what I am talking about, and are eager to give advice.

The purpose of art, surely, is not merely to depict
or represent realityfor that can be accomplished very easily with a camerabut
to enhance, transcend, or indeed even to distort reality.
